A NEW sports competition hosted by a school in Archway proved a big hit all round – especially when excited pupils got the chance to challenge their teachers.

City of London Academy Highgate Hill, in Holland Walk, which only opened in September last year, hosted their first inter-form rounders competition over three days last week. The highlight was the special students versus staff showdown. It turns out that the youngsters have still got a lot to learn as the staff ran out winners.

Head of PE Tracy Quirke said: “The bowling was very consistent with very few no-balls given by the umpires, while increasingly confident and creative batting skills were used to good effect by the players. The fielding was also excellent for all the teams involved with some real improvements shown by all.

“Thanks go to our team of Year 10 Sports Leaders for their help in officiating and organising the matches. Well done to everyone.”
