Our constitution can produce results which are far from democratic

• JOHN Gulliver is partly correct in diagnosing Labour’s defeat as being due to its failure to whole-heartedly support the result of the referendum, (Brexit elephant in the room, January 16).
But another reason is our constitution which can produce results which are far from democratic. It’s complicated.
Take voting members of my family. None would ever vote Conservative. Three who voted for the Brexit party at the European elections voted Labour.
One, living in a Tory shire, voted Lib Dem as the perceived opposition to the Conservatives and one voted Green due to a dislike of Corbyn.
