THE full horror of the Holocaust and the industrialised slaughter of millions of people is a shameful human event created by racist ideology.
Now, using pictures taken in some cases by Jewish victims as well as German propaganda photographers, an extraordinary Virtual Reality exhibition – the first of its kind – will open at the newly built South Hampstead Synagogue in Belsize Park on Monday as part of the 75th anniversary of the Holocaust.
It has been put together by the National Holocaust Centre and Museum in collaboration with historians and Virtual Reality developers at Nottingham University. The exhibition is more than just a pictorial horror show, it encourages critical thinking on racism, hatred – and even “fake” news.
In today’s climate the exhibition could not be more timely – and it is a conclusive rebuttal of all those “Holocaust deniers”.
