A TOP squad of speedy swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage proved that they are primed for future success when they came away from their biggest test of the season so far clutching a string of medals.

They may not have added a gold medal to their haul, but the team of 11 to 14-year-olds who took part in the London Regional Age Group Championships, which were held at Crystal Palace over two weekends, certainly proved that they have what it takes to compete against the very best.

Among the top performers was Alexis Lambropoulos, 12, who saw off a host of tough opponents on her way to making six finals, where she was eventually rewarded with a silver medal in the 200m freestyle.

Julia Murphy, 13, won bronze medals in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley, while team-mate Gabriele Giovannoni, 12, showed great endurance to take bronzes in the 1500m freestyle and the 400m individual medley.

Ella McEver, 11, claimed one of the most impressive medals of the meet when she bagged a bronze in the 200m breaststroke despite taking on rival swimmers who were a year older than her.

The talented 11-year-old also swam well to record a fourth place finish in the 100m race.

Marliese Rittenhouse, 13, and Lauren Brantley, 14, also both made it on to the podium as they won bronze medals in their respective 100m butterfly events.

There was still time for Camden Swiss Cottage to add one more medal to their overall tally, this time in the team competition.

The talented quartet of Graham Brantley, Joseph Wildisen, Mika Fitzpatrick-Suen and Alexander Borisov stormed to silver in the men’s 14-16 year olds 4x200m freestyle relay.

Despite missing out on the medals, there were also impressive top-eight finishes for Brandon Biss, 11, Lyelle Kahaner, 12, Alexander Chen, 12, Amir Castronovo, 13, Clementine Butler Brown, 14, and Ally Dill, 14.
