A gala concert is being held on Friday evening (July 7) to raise funds for Songhaven’s monthly dementia-friendly concerts at gala concert being held at Lumen Church, Tavistock Square, Bloomsbury. The concert is being hosted by Songhaven founder mezzo-soprano Vivien Conacher. She’s being joined by soprano Natasha Day and pianist Somi Kim in performance of favourite operatic arias and duets.

The best and most original jazz is continuing to be played on the first Friday evening of each month at the iconic Con Cellar Bar underneath The Constitution on St Pancras Way, Camden Town. There’s a double-bill on July 7. Peerless trumpeter Percy Pursglove and remarkable saxophonist John O’Gallagher are leading a quartet followed by the Fabled quartet led by multi-reedsman Sam Rapley.

• The infamous rivalry between Handel’s favourite diva Faustina Bordoni and Francesca Cuzzoni is being explored at Handel & Hendrix in London, on Friday (July 7). Soprano Emily Owen is leading audi­ence members through the rooms of the house, shedding light on their rivalry, accompanied by early music ensemble Ceruleo.

Those seven singing cellists are back for a Massive Violins summer special at Cecil Sharp House next Thursday evening (July 13). This time, they’re performing some of the best rock and pop songs ever written, from the Beach Boys and Bjork and taking in the Beatles, Adele and Clean Bandit. And there could be a bit of Mozart and a snippet of Strauss to boot.
