COUNCIL chiefs say they are trying to help rough sleepers who are living in tents outside Camden Town Underground Station.
Passers-by contacted the CNJ to say they were concerned about the size of the camp, which grew over the holiday period, and whether the people inside needed more help.
Communities chief Councillor Nadia Shah said: “Camden Council is aware of the people sleeping rough around Camden Town station and we are working with the individuals there to assess their needs and determine a route away from rough sleeping, though it can often take time before people feel ready to accept a service offer.”
She added: “Like other London boroughs we continue to see high levels of new people sleeping rough on our streets. However, we remain committed to tackling the injustice of rough sleeping and ensuring that people who are homeless or at risk receive life-changing support.”
