YOUNGSTERS from a top gym near Archway proved they really are boxing clever as they scooped medals and prizes at a special end-of-term awards ceremony.
Coaches from Islington Boxing Club had nothing but praise for their youngest members as they gathered for the annual showpiece at the gym in Hazellville Road.
Among the winners was Sam Tinger, who took home the “Best Boxer of the Term” accolade in the club’s Tuesday class, while teammate Kevin Buonventrv was named the “Most Improved Boxer of the Term”.
In the Thursday class, King Best was awarded the “Most Improved Boxer of the Term” for the second time in a row. James O’Connor won the “Best Boxer of the Term”.
“It’s always great recognising and rewarding all our young boxers for the hard work they put in during training every week,” said club manager Reggie Hagland. “
Islington’s infants classes for boys and girls aged five to eight years old are held every Tuesday and Thursday between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. In the sessions children will learn the basics of boxing, skipping and pad work.
