Highgate Choral Society premieres Two of Three Angels in a weekend of summer concerts

Soprano Susanna Fairbairn performs with Highgate Choral Society at St Michael’s on Saturday

Summer concerts are being performed all over the place this weekend.

Highgate Choral Society is at St Michael’s, Highgate, on Saturday evening (July 1). Being sung is the world premiere of Two or Three Angels, an HCS commission by Russell Hepple­white, drawing on poetry by Blake, Tagore, Keats, WB Yeats and others. The piece for soprano and double-choir was commissioned to complement Will Todd’s Mass in Blue also being performed at the concert. Soprano Susanna Fairbairn is singing in both pieces, there is instrumental support and Ronald Corp conducts.

Other summer concerts include:

London Medical Orchestra is performing “Songs of Land and Sea” at Mary Brookfield, Dartmouth Park Road on Sunday (July 2). Concert highlight is the world premiere of Martin Humphries’ Tilikum, a piece about the magnificent but tragic SeaWorld Orca who died recently. Concert proceeds go to the Camden Psychotherapy Unit in Prince of Wales Road, Kentish Town.

Belsize Baroque is singing music by Jean-Féry Rebel and Johann Kusser at St Peter’s Belsize Square on Sunday evening (July 2). Concert-goers are invited to stay on and enjoy the delights of a garden party afterwards.
