Cock Tavern’s victory was their third win in seven games in the Chalk Farm Pool League
COCK Tavern survived a topsy-turvy night at the table on Monday to overcome The Dolphin in Division Three of the Chalk Farm Pool League.
It looked like the Somers Town-based hot-pots were sailing to victory when they opened up a 3-0 lead at their home venue in Phoenix Road.
The Dolphin turned the tide, however, and started to dominate the match, eventually battling back to take a 4-3 advantage and move within one frame of winning.
The nail-biting showdown was sent to a final-frame decider when Dan Archer won his race to sink the black to level the scores.
Michael Johnson then kept his cool to earn Cock Tavern a 5-4 triumph, and with it only their third win in seven games.
Meanwhile, in the top flight, the big match of the night saw second-place Boston Arms beat leaders King’s Cross Hurricanes 5-4 to reduce the gap to just three points.
