Arsenal face a daunting start to new Premier League season

Gunners play Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all away from home in their first seven fixtures, while Tottenham start their season by hosting Everton

20 August, 2020 — By Steve Barnett

ARSENAL were handed a tough set of opening Premier League fixtures that could derail any early momentum that they were hoping to build come the start of the 2020/21 season.

The Gunners kick off with a trip to newly-promoted Fulham on Saturday, September 12, followed by another London derby against West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on September 19.

But then life gets really tough for Mikel Arteta’s men as they tackle champions Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all away from home in their next five games.

Fans may be allowed back into stadiums by the time Arsenal travel to Tottenham in the first north London derby of the season on December 5, with the corresponding fixture at the Emirates set for March 13.

Meanwhile, Spurs will host Everton in their opening fixture, before a trip to Southampton and a home game against Newcastle.

Spurs’ first test against the so-called “big six” comes against Manchester United on October 3. Then, in a tough November, they face Manchester City at home and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
