Lindsay romps home to give Harriers a win

HIGHBURY Fields School teacher Lindsay Kehoe romped home in first place for Highgate Harriers in the north London cross-country championships in Trent Park on Saturday.

Kehoe, 32, hit the front early on and held on to finish the 6km mile race ahead of 53 runners in a time of 23:46.
Anna McCutcheon, making her comeback after a year out with injuries, was Harriers’ second woman home, finishing fourth in 24:45.
Natasha Cendrowicz was 11th in 25:41 and Jo Souza 12th in 25:45 as Harriers won the team event with 28points, ahead of Hillingdon in second with 30 and Barnet in third with 56.
Angela Howe was first home for Heathside in 14th place, backed by Nina Anderson (28th), Caroline White (32), Jas Bolla (34), Fiona O’Sullivan (39), Paula Waldron (48) and Jenny Berrisford (55).
Heathside pulled off three wins in the men’s teams races, taking first place in the A, B and veterans.
Harrier Keith Cullen and Heathsider Piet Jacobs battled for first place in the men’s 8km mile race.
Jacobs went into the race having won the Bath Four Mile Road Race by almost a full minute in 19:43s the previous week.
But Cullen pulled away as the two-mile mark approached and raced ahead to finish first in 24:10 to Jacobs’ 25:16. Harrier Dale Bickham just missed out on sixth place of the 117 finishers, coming in eighth in 26:42.
Harriers’ 2002 Middlesex Veteran Champion Alex Davidson was next Highgate man home in 16th in 27:52.
They were backed by Jeremy Rogers, 29, (29:10); Greg Fuzesi, 39, (29:47); Nick Stockman, 46, (30:30); Jose Barretta, 60, (31:33) and Kevin Lineham, 74, (33:30).
Jacobs, who won the gold medal because of Cullen’s guest status in the race, was backed by Sean Dixon in seventh (26:41); Dave Browne, 15, (27:41); Paul Lemmon, 18, (28:21); Norman Mitchell, 19, (28:24); Alex Sweet, 33, (29:30);
Pete Crockford, 34, (29:32); Kabir Kemp, 38, (29:50); Urban Bettag, 42, 30:17; John Rene, 43, 30:19; Jacob Howe, 44, 30:21; Patrick Kiernan, 47, 30:31; Dave Walton, 53, 31:02; Chip Hamer, 59, 31:29; Bill Gilby, 75, 33:37; Tim Marlow, 87, 35:08.
Two Heathsiders were in action at the South of England Vets Championships in Margate on Sunday.
Jo King came sixth in the senior women’s 5.5km race in 19:33 and Paul Lemmon was 37th in the senior men’s 9.5km race in 33:47.
