Raiders snatch festive fair toys

School head appeals to firms after theft

BURGLARS have made off with the prizes for a Kentish Town school’s Christmas fair.
Thieves sneaked into the basement at Carlton Primary and stole toys and prizes intended for the raffle at the Grafton Road school.
Organiser Sharon Stead hopes parents and businesses will rally round so the fair can go ahead as planned on December 3.
She said: “All the electrical goods that had been donated by businesses for the raffle have gone – at least £100 worth.
“A lot of toys are gone, too, although we have more of those.
“But we’ve still got a couple of weeks to get back on track, so hopefully it will be okay.”
The burglars may also be behind a series of break-ins at the school, including the theft of the staffroom phone during the recent half-term week.
Ms Stead said: “Whoever is responsible seems to know their way around the building, so whether or not a former pupil or relative is involved, I do not know.”
On police advice, changes have now been made to school security.
