Baby faced gangsters and their slinky molls take Sadler's Wells by storm
PROMISING young actors and musicians have taken to the Sadler’s Wells stage for a dazzling production of the musical gangster caper Bugsy Malone.
The talented teenagers rehearse in the tenants’ hall on the Clarence Way estate in Kentish Town, where many of them live.
There were no signs of nerves among the youngsters on Thursday when they began a three-night stint at the Lilian Baylis Theatre, part of the Sadler’s Wells complex in Islington.
Among the audience was Camden Council leader Councillor Dame Jane Roberts, Deputy Mayor Councillor Harriet Garland and tenants’ leader Silla Carron.
The show was devised by the Young Persons’ Theatre Company run by Robbi Stevens, who also manages the Hopeful Monsters theatre company.
She said: “I am so proud of the 25 cast members who have worked so hard and given so much to this show.”
