Talacre pool blueprint ‘must stay a secret’

LEGAL advisers at the Town Hall have intervened to stop the New Journal gaining access to the full blueprint of Camden’s plans to build a new swimming pool at Talacre Sports Centre in Kentish Town.
Reporters applied under the Freedom of Information Act to view documents relating to the council plans, which ultimately could lead to the sale of the existing baths in Prince of Wales Road.
But the request to see the files has been flatly rejected, with lawyers claiming the release of the information would not be in the public interest.
In an email to the New Journal on Thursday, assisstant culture director Fiona Dean said: “Disclosure of that information is likely to prejudice the commercial interests of the London Borough of Camden and other organisations, as it relates to commercial activity that is conducted in a competitive environment.”
