Clubber’s horror balcony jump

A CLUBBER who jumped headfirst from the balcony of a Camden Town nightclub on Friday night walked out of hospital yesterday (Wednesday).
Police had mistakenly earlier confirmed the death of the 30-year-old, who has not been named, after he jumped from the dress circle at Koko and landed headfirst on the busy dancefloor.
He is understood to have told a friend he intended to jump just moments before making his 20-foot leap at the Camden High Street club. Fellow clubbers at the NME-branded night rushed to his aid immediately. They included several staff from sandwich chain Pret a Manger, which had hosted a private function at the club earlier in the evening for all of its London employees.
One said: “I was helping him on the dancefloor but there was not a lot we could do. It was a terrible sight.”
The club shut shortly after the 11pm incident and stayed closed on the normally busy Saturday night while police investigated.
A police spokesman said: “The management of the club has been very helpful.”
A spokesman for Koko said: “Koko takes the safety of its customers very seriously and works hard with our security team to ensure a safe environment for everyone that enters the building.
