Young and old celebrate the end of the war in Europe in swingin’ style

SIXTY years after the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of the war in Europe, swing music again echoed down Cromer Street, King’s Cross, at a party to celebrate VE Day.
Pensioners old enough to have suffered the privations of war mingled with soldiers from the Royal Logistics Corps, based at the nearby barracks in Albany Street, pearly kings and queens and large sections of King’s Cross’s Bangladeshi community at the party, organised by Camden Council.
Right (below): Dancers Odette Baltael, Simona Scolto, Jean LeClerc and Kevin Lucy of Swing Feet. Left Sergeant Major George Spencer, Corporal Emil Tromicek, Corporal Oliver Bowles with Freda Gage, Ethel Gubler, Joan Lake.
