Tribute to Sir peace

Professor Rotblat
FRIENDS and colleagues held a minute’s silence at a full meeting of Camden Council in memory of nobel peace laureate and freeman of Camden Professor Joseph Rotblat who died recently.
Leader of the council, Jane Roberts told members of the tremendous contribution their lost friend had made to international nuclear disarmament.
She said: “Professor Sir Joseph Rotblat was a remarkable pioneer in the nuclear peace process.
“He accorded us the great honour of his acceptance to become the first free man of Camden.”
Describing him as a ‘citizen of the world’ Cllr Roberts told members of his ‘passion for the betterment of humankind’.
She added: “He was wholly committed to ridding the world of nuclear weapons. He was remarkably unassuming, a modest man,
“We shall miss him but we thank him for the association we had with him.”
