Second arrest in murder hunt

MURDER squad detectives have arrested a second man in the hunt for the killer of a builder stabbed to death in Camden Town.
The investigation into the death of Thomas Breen, 50, (pictured) will enter its fourth year on Wednesday.
He died from a stab wound inflicted in Camden High Street on August 10 2002 but, despite several high-profile appeals for help, nobody has ever been charged with his murder.
Police arrested a 38-year-old man at a house in Kentish Town last Wednesday.
But, after questioning, the suspect was released on bail without being charged. The man must appear before detectives again later this month.
In June, police arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the killing.
He was also bailed pending follow-up inquiries. The arrests are the first breakthroughs in an inquiry that has often left police baffled.
An inquest into Mr Breen’s death was held at St Pancras Coroner’s Court earlier this year but details of the case read to the court were kept sparse after a warning by police that they closing the net on the murderer.
Mr Breen, originally from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland, had been out drinking with a pal when he was knifed near the Elephant’s Head pub. CCTV cameras were facing in the wrong direction to catch the attack on film.
