Demo of the week

IT’S funny, and maybe depressing, that what essentially is a bluesy rock record is the cheeriest demo in the pile this week.
The Circle, a smart rhythm ‘n’ blues outfit from Coventry (you didn’t think there was such a thing), are the perfect antidote to the rubbish cod-Coldplay nonsense that fills the DotW postbag each week.
We’ve had enough slit-your-wrists, depressing indie music already so the next band to send me some nonsense about being lonely and how rubbish the world is will feature in a Demo-lition bucket.
They will be panned and Grooves will tell music fans to steer clear of their boring gigs.
The Circle’s sound is not revolutionary or amazingly original, but it’s competent – and when you go through as many demos as Grooves does every week, sometimes that’s all you want in a band.
Sound snippets are available at www.thecircleonline.com, as well as full track The Kaleidoscope.
There’s a soothing blues harp surfing a rattling guitar groove. This is perfect end of the day, sunset stuff. It’s bluesy but you won’t be blue.

Send your promo to: Demo of the Week, 40 Camden Road, NW1 9DR. Only the most memorable feature.
