Fresh from Shirley Bassey and comedy

GIORGIO SERCI AND ENSEMBLE
Courtyard Theatre

ITALIAN music arranger Giorgio Serci (right), with his ensemble, is appearing at the Courtyard Theatre on Saturday to present a concert featuring songs in English and Italian and works by Scarlatti and Vivaldi.
Now based in the UK, Serci brings a terrifically diverse range of music and talents with him, along with singers Alessandra Testai and Victor Munt.
Serci was born in Sardinia and taught himself to play guitar at 13 before taking professional classical tuition at the Nuova Accademia.
He moved to London in 1994 to study at Goldsmiths and has been studying composition and arranging for the jazz orchestra at the City Lit college. Such is his adaptability, he has not only supported Shirley Bassey, he has also worked alongside Japanese musicians Shima Kobayashi and Ryuko Mizutani, with comedians Boothby Graffoe and Ross Noble and collaborated with fellow guitarist Antonio Forcione.
So it is no surprise to see him turn his talented hand to music of the Renaissance.
