Suspect in court on gay murder charge

A MURDER suspect appeared in court yesterday (Wednesday) charged with the killing of a Hampstead pensioner.
Mark Pacelli Papazian, 49, spoke only to confirm his name and address as he appeared at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court for a brief hearing.
He is charged with the murder of Roger Hendra, 65, a retired gay man whose body was found in a flat in Pond Street, South End Green.
Mr Hendra was discovered dead two weeks ago after friends alerted to police. He had not been seen for several days.
A post-mortem found that Mr Hendra had been slashed in the neck.
Mr Papazian, of Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage, was arrested on Tuesday.
His next court appearance has been set for Tuesday at the Old Bailey.
