Eyes down for Tate bingo

THE Tate Britain in Pimlico will open its doors to popular culture tonight (Friday) when it holds a one-off bingo session to celebrate a festival launch.

South West Fest attractions include musical workshops with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Sussex Street Play Centre on July 10, tours of Westminster Archives in St Ann’s Street on July 13, outdoor theatre and a Notting Hill-style parade on July 16 starting at Peabody Avenue, Victoria, at 12pm.
Now in its second year, the South West Fest is packed with activities and parades throughout the area and runs between July 9 and July 17. At the Tate bingo session, which runs from 6-10pm, caller Amy Lam will switch on SW1 Radio.
The radio station can be found at 87.7FM from July 11 and will run for seven weeks.
Chef Peter Lloyd will teach school pupils culinary skills on July 9 at the City Inn hotel, in Millbank Tower, from 10am to 3pm.
There is a chance to kayak on the Thames from the Westminster Boating Base on July 10.
The chairwoman of the festival committee Jane Buttigeig said: “Being born and bred it is a privilege to be involved in South West Fest.
“We are delighted so many businesses and institutions are opening their doors to the community.” For more information call 020 7535 0489 or visit www.southwestfest.org.uk
