Demo of the Week – New Rhodes

ONE of the most exciting new bands out there right now, New Rhodes are the latest art house rockers craving a piece of the pop pie.

They make indie grooves sound so simple, slicing up infectious guitar riffs to an end product which is not unlike The Strokes or The Kaiser Chiefs.
Given that you can’t turn on the TV or radio without seeing the Kaisers – fair play to them, they sounded good at Glastonbury – New Rhodes must have hit on a winning recipe.
In fact, it is amazing that more people haven’t heard of them.
They have already played Glastonbury, rocked their way around more than 150 fringe gigs in the past four years and supported hit-makers such as Razorlight, The Killers and Bloc Party.
When We Were Young is a pounding guitar-buster that could be mistaken for The Kaiser Chiefs.
And their other recordings have a similar crunching flavour.
I Wish I Was You is a single that hasn’t made the impact it deserved.
The lively You Have Given Me Something I Can’t Give Back has similar indie howling that you will either love or hate.
New Rhodes are currently on a whistlestop tour of Britain, so there is every chance you could see them some time soon.
Keep checking www.newrhodes.com for latest info.

• If you think the next Demo Of The Week winners should be your band, then don’t just sit around crowing about it. Prove it!
Send in your promo for consideration: Demo of the Week, Grooves, 40 Camden Road, NW1 9DR. Unfortunately, demos cannot be returned.
