CNJ up for top award

THE New Journal has been shortlisted for the prestigious Free Newspaper of the Year award at the newspaper industry Oscars for the fourth time in six years.
The awards, organised by the Press Gazette, the media industry’s bible, are considered important because newspapers and journalists are judged by their peers.
The New Journal was nominated for three years in succession from 2000 to 2002, picking up the award in 2001 and receiving a mention in dispatches in the other two years.
The winners will be announced at a glitzy ceremony at the Park Lane Hilton on the July 1, hosted by BBC news presenter Michael Buerk.
