Drama centre goes on market

Pierce Brosnan

THE former church and drama centre where Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth cut their teeth as actors has been put up for sale by the Town Hall.
The Prince Of Wales Road Drama Centre in Chalk Farm was last used as an extra classroom for Haverstock School when contractors failed to complete new school buildings in time last September.
It has been without a proper full-time use since the drama centre, part of St Martin’s Art School, moved to Clerkenwell last year.
Originally a Methodist church built in 1871, it became a drama centre in 1963. Grade II-listed, it is in need of refurbishment.
The Town Hall is inviting bids from community and arts groups. Estate agent Christo and Co, which is handling the sale, says it has received “substantial” interest but no bids yet.
Sealed bids will be opened on May 16.
