‘Don’t hold your breath’ warning

TOWN Hall plans to do up a small stretch of West End Lane has prompted a senior Lib-Dem councillor to tell her constituents: don’t hold your breath, writes Sunita Rappai.
Lib-Dem leader and veteran West Hampstead councillor Flick Rea believes the council’s plans to lay new paving and plant trees outside Walnuts restaurant opposite Pizza Express by West End Green has been in the pipeline for so long it will never happen. She said many of the proposals were old ones that had previously come to nothing.
“I have had endless meetings with the council on improvements to every part of West End Lane so I am afraid I will believe it when I see it,” she said.
The proposals are part of a Transport for London funded scheme across the city called ‘Streets for People’. A decision will be made on May 17.
