Kids present traffic agenda

PROOF that politicians are getting younger could be seen at the Town Hall on Monday night when Primary school children took over seats normally reserved for stuffy councillors.
Schoolchildren from Brecknock School in York Way, Camden Town, made their case for a road safety improvement plan at a Town Hall meeting.
After impressing councillors with a series of bright ideas for making the journey to and from school safer, the children heard how their designs – drawn up with the help of council officials – are to become a reality.
Pavements will be widened outside the school to slow down the busy flow of traffic while a seating area will be provided for pedestrians.
Casper Wilson-St James, 11, who helped chair the environment panel meeting alongside senior Labour Councillor John Thane, said: “The widening of the pavement is a good idea because it will stop cars from parking outside the schools. It’s a good idea also because all the mums and dads can stand outside the gates.”
Problems faced by pupils at Brecknock include overcrowded pavements during the busy rush to school in the morning.
