5 x 2 (15)
The title of François Ozon’s (Swimming Pool) latest movie refers to the five chapters that detail the romance between Marion (Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi) and Gilles (Stephane Freiss), beginning with their divorce and then tracking back to scenes from their relationship. Fascinating stuff for anyone who wants to dissect why a relationship goes wrong with two terrific central performances.

Darkness (15)
Spanish director Jaume Balaguero’s first English language film (following on from his acclaimed horror Los Sin Nombre) is a bit of a disappointment despite a cast that includes Anna Paquin, Lena Olin and Iain Glen.
Paquin is a teen who suspects something may be up when her brother mentions he’s being haunted by the ghosts of children. Of course, it turns out the family home was the location for creepy goings on decades before. The film’s 15 certificate illustrates just how unscary the end result is.

Don’t Move (15)
Penelope Cruz who, for some reason, seems to lose all acting talent when she’s performing in English, does better in this slick but ultimately disappointing Italian movie from director Sergio Castellitto. She stars as the almost destitute woman who falls for the wealthy surgeon (played by Castellitto) who rapes her in the movie’s flashbacks as the surgeon reflects on his life.

Pooh’s Heffalump Movie (U)
Tots used to Pixar movies (Monsters Inc etc) probably won’t be impressed by this more traditional animated adventure, but it’s sweet stuff for really little ones as Pooh’s kangaroo pal Roo befriends a loveable baby Heffalump.
