Kinks star’s plan to create £3m dream home

Kinks’ Ray Davies

St Michael’s Terrace in Highgate

ROCK hero Ray Davies is seeking Town Hall permission to knock together two Highgate homes to create a dream property.
The Kinks star wants to alter two buildings in sedate St Michael’s Terrace, a row of houses in South Grove.
His application has been filed by his company, Ray Davies Entertainments, and is being considered by the Town Hall’s planning department.
The singer was the brains behind a string of celebrated hit 1960s singles, including Lola, Waterloo Sunset and You Really Got Me.
Davies’s planning application will not be resolved until the council has been assured that no neighbours have valid concerns about the alterations.
Design details are openly available on the council’s website, where architects drawings have been posted.
The two homes are near Pond Square and close to the popular Flask pub.
Unusually, the price paid for the homes is not listed on the land register but estate agents say each is likely to be around the £1.5 million mark.
It is not clear whether the homes, which will be joined at ground-floor level, are for use by Davies himself.
He is recovering from being shot in the leg three months ago during a street attack in New Orleans.
