Road rage at u-turn sign ‘scam’

MOTORISTS have accused the Town Hall of operating a scam after it emerged that big brother-style cameras have been used to issue fines worth a quarter of a million pounds in just 50 days at a poorly-signed Holborn junction.
The New Journal has learned that nearly 2,500 motorists have been given £100 fines since December 1 for making illegal U-turns in Southampton Row near the junction with Vernon Place.
But the sign banning U-turns is almost completely hidden behind traffic lights and CCTV poles, making it all but impossible for passing drivers to spot.
The London Taxi Drivers Association – whose members have been hit severely – has demanded that all of the fines be refunded.
