Comic remembered with Twelfth Night carols

Comedian Peter Cook

THE end of Christmas will be marked by a carol service in aid of the Peter Cook Foundation at a Hampstead church tomorrow evening (Friday).
Former Monty Python star Terry Jones and actors Robert Powell and Rhys Ifans are lined up for the Twelfth Night service at Hampstead Parish Church in Church Row. Actor Ray Shell, from the hit stage version of the Lion King, performed last year – and will return on Friday.
Organised by the church’s vicar, the Reverend Stephen Tucker, and comedian Peter Cook’s widow Lin, the service, including carols from the church’s choir, will raise money for the Foundation, which helps young people with learning difficulties.
Lin Cook said: “Like many other charities we were going to have a carol service in December but Rev Tucker suggested a Twelfth Night celebration instead. Many people think Christmas is over on Boxing Day but for the church the season does not end until Twelfth Night.”
The service will mark the 11th anniversary of the death of the comedian, who lived in Perrin’s Walk, Hampstead.
Tickets, £15 each or four for £50, are available on the door or from the Foundation on 0207 435 3595.
